About Bromelain Games
Our Mission
Bromelain Games creates print-and-play escape room kits and story-driven puzzle games. Our focus is on combining narrative, puzzles, and atmosphere to make an engaging experience.
Our Origin
Our journey began in 2017, initially exploring digital game design for mobile platforms. The inspiration for our current games came from playing a tabletop escape game that required players to destroy components to solve puzzles.
This led to a question: could the same hands-on experience be created in a printable format, so players wouldn't have to destroy a boxed game? This became the core concept for our print-and-play escape rooms.
Our Approach
Initially, the games were designed to be purely paper-based. However, checking solutions and getting hints proved cumbersome in a print-and-play format.
Drawing on our background in mobile game development, a free companion app was created to handle these functions. This approach keeps the gameplay focused on the tactile, paper materials, with the app used only for support when needed.
Our First Game
The first episode of The Secret of Langton Manor was released for free on platforms like itch.io to test the concept. After a positive reception from players, the decision was made to develop the full episodic series. We remain committed to keeping the price of the games accessible.
The Future
The story of The Secret of Langton Manor is part of a larger, interconnected world. Our next game, The Green Star, is a standalone adventure set in the same universe, moving the timeline forward to the Atomic Age.
We plan to continue exploring this world with future games. For updates, please see our Blog.
About Our Name
The name "Bromelain" comes from an enzyme found in pineapples. We just think they're a fun and intriguing fruit, much like a good puzzle.
